faulty 50A two pole gfci breaker?
I have a two pole GE GFCI 50A breaker controlling a hot tub. The unit has been in service about a year. This morning I did a periodic test of the GFCI unit. I pushed the "test" button on the breaker. It hummed, sparked, and tripped. I reset it (all the way off, then back on) but hot tub didn't come on. I checked voltage at the service disconnect for the tub and found only power on one leg. I pulled the breaker and tested with a volt meter for continuity. No continuity across the breaker on the side with the "test" button, the other side is fine. I replaced the breaker ($$) and it works fine, but I'm afraid to push the test button and smoke another breaker (and my wallet). Was this just a faulty breaker or is there something more serious going on?
I think that your GTG test it and if it does fry it can you take it back maybe . Seems like you figured it out and its fine Good Luck
