hot tubs and GFCI protection.?
We are renting, and there is a place for a hot tub. One was there before we moved in. We bought a used hot tub. It has GFCI protection on the tub. Its 240/120 V. #6 copper wire. There is a panel 10' away on the garage. It is the circuit that feeds the hot tub. It has a 2 pole 60 Amp GFCI circuit breaker. Also the main panel in the house that feeds the hot tub also has a 60 A 2 pole GFCI circuit breaker. Three 60 Amp 2 pole GFCI circuit breakers protecting the hot tub. Can this be left this way or will the GFCI cancel each other or malfuction. Thank you for your advice..
From what you specified above it will be ok...BUT you will most likely have problems with it shutting off from time to time. The GFCI on the spa pack will be the culprit most of the time from "Ghost triping" I would have an electrician eliminate that one.
